Michael Terranova is currently the Chairman of Criminal Justice and Social Sciences Departments at Delaware Technical & Community College. He is retired Captain from the New Castle County Police Department with over 23 years of service to the communities of New Castle County.
Mike is a native Delawarean who grew up in Wilmington and Newark and now lives in Hockessin with his wife, Lisa. They have three grown children and three grandchildren.
A graduate of McKean High School, Mike holds an associate’s degree from Delaware Technical & Community College and bachelors and master’s degrees from Wilmington University. In addition, Mike attended the Police Executive Research forum at Harvard University and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
Mike is a board member of the Delaware Police Chiefs’ Foundation and is chairperson of the education committee. In 2006, he initiated a diversified statewide mentoring program for students interested in the field of criminal justice. He is also a board member of the Greater Hockessin Area Development Association.
Mike has an extensive background in law enforcement, public service, education and community involvement. He has been a strong advocate for inclusive local government, modernized education systems for all students, technology-based community policing, a clean environment, and responsible development.
