The film contrasts Italy’s traditional humanist values with inhuman new Italian national laws aimed at stemming illegal immigration and insists that it is morally imperative to rebel against them. This continuing clash between Italian law, driven by the politics of the times, and the ‘law of the sea’ are placed in full focus for viewers to digest and reconcile.
